Her Story

About Francesca

I've been in manufacturing since 2020, but I've been in human resources since I graduated college 10 years ago. I'm the Human Resources Manager at my facility, so I work the full 360 desk. My greatest talent is under talent optimization and performance management, succession planning, identifying individuals in our org who have skill in helping themselves that, so they have continued advancement, as well as sourcing talent external of our organization. I also manage a team of HR generalists and enjoy that cross-collaboration within my division. I have a bachelor's in Administration and Management, with an emphasis in Human Resources from Grand Valley State University, and my SHRM-CP. Prior to my current role, I was an HR strategic business partner helping multiple clients throughout West Michigan.

Ten minutes with Francesca

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to those who've believed in me from the beginning, starting with my family and my friends, but the mentors that I've had along the way as well. I hope to be a mentor to others.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I've received quite a few nuggets. Whatever position you're in, be the very best version of that that you can be. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. At the end of the day, everyone is doing what they're doing with the best intentions, and if we can understand and recognize that, we can help make better decisions together if we see the good in others.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Remember that your path is individual to you. What's meant for you will happen. It will happen because you'll make it happen. You do have the power. You can do it.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Biggest challenge in human resources is we are in a constantly evolving world, so staying on top of everything from labor laws to just people challenges in general. Humans are unpredictable. But it gets back to remembering why we're here, which is we are here to be resources to the humans, and at the end of the day people are people and we're people too, so we can handle it.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Going for the absolute best, that would definitely be for personal and professional. Ambition is a personal value of mine, which gets back into excellence. And passion. Overall, have passion in everything you do.
