Her Story
About Fredrika
I've been working at BJC Healthcare for 10 years, starting as a patient transporter at Barnes Jewish Hospital. I wanted to get on the other side of things so I became a patient care technician on a neuro step-down unit for about a year. Then I went back to school and took a BJC cohort with Southern New Hampshire to get my bachelor's in healthcare management. After that I became procedure coordinator for ultrasound and radiology, then administrative coordinator for medicine units for four years. Now I'm project specialist for patient experience and lead brand ambassador handling the Connect Award and community outreach.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be patient and keep networking with people, get mentors, connect with as many groups as you can, try to get your name around, just keep trying like don't give up. Eventually somebody will give you a chance. Also just be yourself while you're doing it.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
It's hard for people to be patient and it's hard for people with no experience to get experience if nobody will let them or give them a chance. Be willing to take a chance to give somebody the opportunity to show that they're amazing.
