About Gabriela
Gabriela Fernandez is a public health major at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she maintains a 3.9 GPA and is set to graduate this May. With four years of experience in the field, she currently works as an intern at Martha My Dear, a wedding rental company, focusing on organization, inventory, and ensuring equipment is prepared for on-site deliveries during busy seasons. She recently completed an undergraduate research position with the North Carolina Healthy and Thriving Kids Research project in collaboration with UNCW and ECU faculty, investigating teacher preparedness and confidence levels regarding sexual education in middle and high schools. Fernandez holds CITI Program research certification, including a social behavioral research course and IRB chair training. Her extracurricular involvement includes prior membership in the Chi Omega chapter at UNCW, serving as editor-in-chief of the Mountaineer Health Digest Club at App State, and current participation in the Sigma Gamma public health club at UNCW. She values communication and consistency in her work and personal life and aspires to roles in medical sales or health-related marketing that allow her to educate and communicate with the public.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always ask questions, even if they sound stupid. Always seek for opportunities and connect with people as much as you can because you never know.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Communication and consistency are really big for me. Communication is important because if you mess up, being able to communicate that is key since we're all human.
