Her Story
About Gabriela
I've built my career over 5-6 years in customer service and sales, working with companies like AT&T, DirecTV, and Shea, and also spending time in the car industry as a business development specialist and manager. Now I'm doing tech sales for ADP, where I've been for about a year. I spend most of my day doing outbound calls to prospects, managing my area, and doing daily follow-ups with HR managers, directors, operations managers, and business owners. The main thing of my role is to educate companies about improvements for their HR payroll process and connect them with our workers' comp partners, 401K partners, and all that. What I'm most proud of is my ability to connect with prospects and make them feel that I'm here to help them instead of just selling a product. I've been able to make good relationships with my prospects, even though I'm just a salesperson.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say to not be afraid to ask questions and to learn something new, and be knowledgeable, even though that you feel like you're good on what you used to do before. This can be completely different, that's what happened to me. I was doing car dealership, but when I switched, it was a completely different work. So, yeah, I just... Just be open to learn, and be coachable.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Sometimes the language can be a really big challenge, especially when you're in a new industry. There's new terms that you have never heard, it's a different process and all that. I think that that would be the only thing that sometimes holds me off, but I always try to look for how to improve in that area.
