Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I would say just putting myself out there and not being scared. I feel like the only way to get experience and just be better at it is trying things out. Being confident plays a lot in a role. Building relationships within my field, like with business majors, has been my biggest thing and how everything kind of is working now. Networking, I think it's super important now. That's really what has been working for me with everything.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Building relationships and networking has been the most important advice I've received and what has been working for me. I feel like networking within my field, especially with business majors, is super important now. That's been my biggest thing and how everything kind of is working for me right now.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would definitely advise to explore all the options. I feel like I didn't do that, and now I feel like instead of a Spanish minor, I should have done something that would help my marketing major stand out, like psychology because there's a lot of buyer behavior and why people buy things. I feel like psychology would have been really fun for that, or communication. I feel like I didn't explore what options there were. I was just like, I want marketing, and that's it, and I didn't realize there's so many more things that you can connect to it. Career centers help so much with that, and I never did that, so I would definitely recommend using those resources.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I am really struggling to find an internship right now. I feel like it's gotten a lot more competitive, and a lot of marketing majors are now doing sales. Most of my friends and peers who are marketing majors are just going into sales, just because marketing just gets kind of competitive. So finding an internship for the summer has been a real challenge.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty is the big one for me. I feel like nothing really can succeed if you're not being honest, and that's just it. Passion is also a big value for me. Those are the two values I hold most important in both my work and personal life.
