About Gabrielle
Gabrielle Gunn is a student at Virginia State University majoring in accounting and finance with a minor in finance. She aspires to enter the field of audit, which involves ensuring businesses operate legally and lawfully through internal and external reviews of financial statements and processes. In addition to her studies, Gabrielle works in the student accounts office at VSU, advising fellow students on managing their financial obligations to the university. She is actively involved in professional organizations, serving as president or vice president of the VSU chapter of the National Association for Black Accountants and participating in FBLA, where she earned first place nationally in the Accounting Case Competition. Gabrielle also leads Vanity Effect LLC as president, focusing on mental health advocacy, community service, and promoting healthier relationships. She draws motivation from her military family background and plans to commission as an officer in the Air Force or Navy. Gabrielle attributes her success to her network and her skill in forming relationships based on shared interests and mentalities rather than personal gain. Her advice to young women entering the industry is to say yes to opportunities that spark curiosity, learn to say no to uncomfortable situations, continue learning without assuming complete knowledge, and remain a student to those with prior experience.
