About Gabrielle
I have been a grant writer independently since 2022, coming up on 4 years, with closer to 7 years of total experience in grant writing. I came from working at a chamber of commerce, where I got really well-versed in economic development, deep community ties, nonprofit strategic planning and fundraising, and crowdfunding campaigns. In combination with all of that, I had done some minor grant work on various community projects. Since I had a role to play with our county's economic development from time to time, I would have to sit in on a lot of those sessions, so I got a lot of great experience prior to starting my own company. A typical day for me looks like 4-5 hours of proposal development, maybe an hour or two cumulatively for research on organizations, funders, their alignment with their priority areas. Then I'll have a client call, or I will have Teams meetings with my team to go over client goals, upcoming proposals, their grant calendars. A lot of what I'm responsible for is prospect research. The biggest component is proposal development, and just really creating a compelling story that will get people funded. I feel like it's a very rewarding job, and I feel like I'm more well-written than I am spoken. In every room that I have been in, I have been the youngest person there, and I feel like that says a lot about my ambition and my goals and my drive to achieve really good things. I'm currently working with Kim Joyce & Associates and am not taking on independent clients at this time.
