Her Story

About Gabrielle

I have been in the telecommunications world for 11 years now at Verizon. It has been impactful to be part of such a big company and realize you can still make a difference and impact people no matter the size. As a senior trainer, I work on development and mentorship with sales associates, new hires, leadership, and C-suite. One of my most notable achievements is my big hand in the New to Role program for brand new leaders, and getting calls years later about their career advancements.

Ten minutes with Gabrielle

01What do you attribute your success to?

The people around me who pushed me to move up from entry-level roles. They saw something in me and encouraged me to apply for better positions, helping me branch out from my safe silo.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Success is temporary - if you can't teach it, repeat it, or develop it, it won't last. Also, PI: Performance, Image, and Exposure. Perform well first, build your image and brand, and that determines your exposure to better opportunities.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Lean in to your womanhood. Don't let anyone stifle it or tell you it's too much. Lean in, and love who you are, and other people will follow.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In a big company like Verizon, you have to voice your opinion, believe your voice matters, and be okay being uncomfortable. If you don't speak up, you will get left behind. It's scary but the best thing for yourself and those watching you.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity. You can't just leave your integrity at home one day. If you knew better, you had to do better. I hope my legacy is measured in my integrity as a person.
