Her Story

About Gaby

Gaby De La Espriella is an Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalism professional whose career spans more than 25 years in television news, communications, and media production. A graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism, she built her career at NBC 6 and Telemundo 51 in South Florida, where she served as Senior Assignment Editor and Senior Duopoly Planner. Throughout her tenure, she led newsroom operations, coordinated breaking news coverage, managed cross-functional teams, and cultivated strong relationships with public agencies, community leaders, and media professionals. Her contributions to investigative and breaking news reporting earned her four Emmy Awards, as well as recognition from Investigative Reporters and Editors for her work on the award-winning "Citizenship for Sale" investigation.

Known for her expertise in real-time information gathering, crisis communication, editorial planning, and field production, Gaby has coordinated coverage of some of South Florida's most significant events, including hurricanes, major public safety incidents, and nationally recognized breaking news stories. Following her retirement from broadcast news in 2025, she transitioned into freelance producing and communications with ADG Strategy Group, where she supports public relations campaigns, interview coordination, and media production projects for organizations such as Nicklaus Children's Health System. Her ability to translate decades of newsroom experience into strategic communications has allowed her to continue shaping impactful community-centered storytelling.

In addition to her media and communications work, Gaby has embraced education as the next chapter of her professional journey. She currently teaches TV Production at St. Bonaventure Catholic School, introducing middle school students to the fundamentals of broadcast journalism, storytelling, and media production through hands-on learning experiences. Passionate about mentoring the next generation, she believes in leading with curiosity, perseverance, and service. Originally from El Salvador and raised between two cultures, Gaby brings a unique perspective to journalism and education, combining technical excellence with a deep appreciation for community, authentic storytelling, and lifelong learning.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take any job in the industry, even if it's minimal. Work hard at it, show yourself, and make yourself known. Don't expect to go straight to the top; climbing the ladder is important.
