About Genell
Genell Owens is an entrepreneur with about 7 years of experience in the fields of entrepreneurship, professional development, and education. She is the founder of Flying Pigs Academy, which is built around the idea that impossible dreams can become actionable plans. Her journey of motherhood and rebuilding multiple jobs inspired her to help others believe that no dream is too big, as long as you build for it. Her motto is Dream, Build, Fly. She attributes her success to pushing through challenges, with her son as her North Star. She values hard work, dedication, and family.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I push when I'm tired and when I'm confused or anything like that. My son is my North Star. What keeps me grinding. It has always just been me and him.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I believe in omens and brokers. Follow your heart and follow those signs. It might not always be the perfect path, but you always have room to turn around and start a new path if need be. Don't be afraid to try something new or do something different.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Holding down your profession while trying to build something on the outside that's meaningful to you. Staying grounded, always seeking out the highest potential, not being stagnant, always trying to learn more.
