Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a deep commitment to people-centered and community-driven engagement. As the Founder and Principal Consultant of Sprouts Consulting LLC, I’ve dedicated my career to helping organizations — including Amazon, Howard University, and WACIF — develop strategies that promote inclusion, well-being, and community empowerment across academic, nonprofit, and corporate sectors. With more than two decades of experience in consulting and community engagement, I’ve cultivated a strong foundation in research, organizational development, and cultural wellness, supported by an expansive network of partners and collaborators who help bring transformative projects to life. Sprouts Consulting was founded on my belief that community and wellness are inseparable. I wanted to create a consulting model that places people at the center of organizational success — recognizing them not only as employees or clients, but as whole individuals. This vision grew out of years of academic research and hands-on leadership experience, where I learned that true progress emerges when people feel seen, supported, and valued. Currently, I’m focused on expanding the reach of the UNITE model through forthcoming publications, including two books that explore community frameworks and workplace transformation. I’m also preparing to speak at an upcoming diaspora conference in Brazil — an opportunity that beautifully connects my academic background in dance as communication with my passion for global cultural dialogue and collective growth.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from mentors who taught me to lead with compassion and curiosity. I’ve been fortunate to learn from incredible academic and professional influences who emphasized that leadership is not just about strategy or authority, but about empathy, awareness, and connection. Early in my academic journey, I was inspired by scholars who bridged leadership, spirituality, and movement — reminding me that effective leadership is both intellectual and deeply human. That perspective continues to guide how I show up for others, create space for authentic collaboration, and lead with purpose and heart.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: build with purpose and lead with empathy. Don’t be afraid to integrate all parts of who you are — even the passions or interests that may seem unrelated at first. My own path weaves together consulting, academia, and the arts, and that combination has become one of my greatest assets. Embrace continuous learning, stay grounded in your values, and never underestimate the power of your voice. It’s your most authentic and influential tool for creating impact and inspiring change.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is helping organizations move from understanding the concept of community engagement to actually living it out in their workplace culture. Many leaders recognize the importance of inclusion and well-being, but fewer know how to translate those values into sustainable, measurable practices. The real opportunity lies in bridging that gap — showing, through both data and lived experience, that organizations grounded in wellness and inclusion consistently perform better. Research demonstrates that such workplaces experience 21% higher revenue growth and 74% higher productivity. I’m passionate about helping organizations not only see those outcomes but also create environments where people genuinely thrive.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, authenticity, and relentless curiosity are the values that guide every aspect of my work and personal life. My purpose has always been to help others thrive through connection, collaboration, and meaningful engagement. I believe that staying grounded in faith and leading with authenticity allows me to build trust and inspire others to do the same. Maintaining balance is also essential — I make time to nurture both my academic and creative passions, whether through dance, travel, or spending time with my family and my dog, Dutch. Right now, I’m channeling those same values into expanding the reach of the UNITE model through two forthcoming books that explore community frameworks and workplace transformation. I’m also preparing to speak at an upcoming diaspora conference in Brazil, an opportunity that beautifully connects my academic background in dance as co
