Her Story

About GENEVIEVE

Genevieve Baltyn brings nearly three decades of experience in the tech and telecom sectors to her role in Customer Success. After earning a bachelor's degree from Columbia College with a double major in business and film and television, she began her career at a startup where she helped launch markets in Chicago and Phoenix before relocating to Arizona. Over her seven years in her current position, Baltyn has distinguished herself through exceptional relationship building, consistently ranking on leaderboards for renewals, upsells, and customer retention while earning company trips and quarterly rewards. She attributes her success to the grit developed after being underestimated during her upbringing on Chicago's south side and in Catholic school, which motivated her to excel academically and professionally. Baltyn values honesty and transparency in all interactions, which has enabled her to build lasting, trust-based client relationships rather than pursuing short-term gains. Outside of work, she supports animal rescues, particularly for dogs, and initiatives for young children such as Make-A-Wish.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with GENEVIEVE

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success stems from growing up on the south side of Chicago and being underestimated by teachers and nuns in Catholic school who separated classes and told me I would never make anything of myself or graduate college. That motivated me to prove them all wrong, leading me to attend Columbia College and graduate with a double major. I have grit, I'm not the smartest but I figure things out, learn, and push past my comfort zone. I also believe in moving beyond your neighborhood for growth, as staying in one place leads to fear and no progress.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't limit yourself or let someone shrink you. Take the risk because even if you fail you didn't fail if you didn't try. Go out of your comfort zone and beyond your neighborhood. Speak up and make yourself into the boys' club without shrinking for anyone, whether parents, relationships, or business. Don't be afraid to show what you have to say even in a man's field.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is AI, as people are going rogue with it and companies are laying off thinking they can replace roles like mine, but AI is not 100% correct and you still need a human behind it. People don't know how to use it properly. The opportunity is that the role has evolved from tactical support to being an engine to sales and more strategic, which is coming to the surface now.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and transparency are most important. I am very transparent and vocal both personally and professionally, which builds trustful relationships. I won't just upsell for the sake of it because lasting relationships and growth matter more than a quick dollar. Trust is key - I have to trust you and be upfront.
