Her Interview

Ten minutes with Gennifer

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to continuous learning and staying curious. I’ve always had an inquisitive mind and believe in asking questions. After transitioning from education to the corporate world, I started as an administrative assistant and took every opportunity to learn the business, which helped me grow professionally.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is that “No” is a full sentence. It taught me the importance of setting boundaries, protecting my time, and making decisions that align with my priorities and values.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to stay open-minded and never assume you have all the answers. Especially in HR, there are often multiple perspectives to every situation, and the truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. Listen, ask questions, and approach every situation with curiosity and fairness.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenges in my field are the changing workforce, the growing influence of AI, the rise of remote work, and economic uncertainty. At the same time, these changes create opportunities. Human resources will always be about people, and there will always be a need for a human in the loop to provide judgment, empathy, and meaningful connection.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are integrity, loyalty, and a good sense of humor. I believe in staying true to my principles, being dependable, and not taking myself too seriously. I’m also a glass-half-full person who chooses to approach both work and life with optimism.
