Her Interview
Ten minutes with Georgette
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to faith, perseverance, and the support of the people who have believed in me along the way. I have learned that growth comes from being willing to keep showing up, even when the path is not easy or everything is not perfect. I also credit my success to a genuine desire to serve others, continue learning, and create opportunities not only for myself but for my community.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to never let where you started limit where you are capable of going. Stay teachable, build genuine relationships, and take every opportunity to learn something new. Your consistency, character, and willingness to keep growing will open doors that titles alone cannot.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering my industry is to remember that while the journey may be challenging, you are stronger and more capable than you may realize. Embrace challenges as opportunities to grow, remain resilient when faced with obstacles, and trust in your ability to learn, adapt, and succeed. Be confident in your voice, continue developing your skills, and never allow difficult circumstances to define your potential.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in nonprofit and community work is financial sustainability. Many organizations have strong ideas and a real desire to serve, but limited funding can make it difficult to maintain programs, compensate staff, and expand their impact. At the same time, this challenge creates an opportunity for leaders to build stronger partnerships, seek sponsorships and grants, and develop creative fundraising strategies. I believe financial setbacks do not have to stop the vision; they can push us to become more resourceful, collaborative, and intentional about building long-term support.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are faith, integrity, service, perseverance, and community. I believe in doing what is right even when no one is watching, treating people with respect, and using my experiences to create opportunities for others. In both my work and personal life, I try to lead with compassion, remain open to learning, and stay committed to following through on the goals and responsibilities placed before me while making lasting memories.
