Her Story
About Geri
After working in the banking world, I made the decision to quit the corporate world and build my own business helping people with their finances and insurance. I got my insurance license in May 2019 and launched Ricky Dean Solutions in July 2019, where I help people with their healthcare and insurance needs. My world changed when my son passed away in August 2019, just a month after I started my business. While grieving and being self-employed, I continued building my business because I truly care about helping people, especially during their worst times. Nothing makes me happier than helping somebody file a claim or being there for them when they need it most. In February 2025, I published my first book 'Where Grief Met Grace' which came from my struggle with loss and opened up a healing journey for myself and others. I've started my second book about how God has used and healed me through all of this. People really need help with their insurance today, and I'm passionate about ensuring they have good healthcare and wellness benefits.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Geri
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to really believe in yourself, value yourself, and know what you bring to the table. Know that you have that confidence as a woman that you know who you are, that you don't need other people validating who you are. You have wisdom and a sound mind, and you should keep your mind always growing and learning, educating yourself, and loving yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If it's the brokerage industry, it's a hard industry. The healthcare sales is a hard industry, but if you know who you are and you go out and you have the people's heart, you want the best outcome for people, you're not out there just for a sales pitch, you're out there because you care about people. If you care about people, it will go more and be so much more rewarding. Nothing really makes me more happy than helping somebody file a claim or helping them when they're in their worst time. Being there for them means the most to me.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is the economy. It's really hard with all the food and gas prices, and people just hardly can afford to live, let alone protect themselves, go do their wellness, and have good health insurance. The hardest thing is people's ability to afford good healthcare and their wellness benefits.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are loyalty, honesty, and character. What you say matters - if you're going to say something, you need to do it. I just believe in being honest and having true feelings. Good, honest character is what I value most.
