Her Interview
Ten minutes with Gina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think tenacity. I'm really big on empowering our younger generation. We have to be at those tables, because if we're not at the table, we are the menu. Being a Hispanic woman, we cannot sit back and allow people to make decisions about our communities.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Delegating. Because when I got sick, I didn't delegate. This chamber could have failed. Having a succession plan, all of that needs to happen.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Get involved and play a role on committees and boards, because it works both ways. You're not only helping your community that you serve but you're building the relationships and connections you need to be building.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
We're growing so fast. The challenge is us as women, we really need to stick together and stop worrying about somebody being better. We need to really be empowering each other.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Building the trust with people. I'm a very humble person. They feel my passion. They feel they can trust me.
