Gina Delgado, Ed.D
Dr. Gina Delgado is a first-generation Latina scholar, artist, and social science researcher dedicated to reshaping the narratives surrounding Latino and Indigenous communities in the United States. Born in Panama and raised in rural Arizona, she overcame significant socioeconomic and cultural barriers to become a leader in education and advocacy. She holds a Bachelor’s in Fine Art (Painting), a Master’s in Postsecondary and Higher Education, and a Doctorate in Education specializing in Educational Leadership and Innovation—all from Arizona State University. Her academic work explores social presence in online learning and examines how community, empathy, and connection influence educational success.
With over 14 years of experience in academia, Dr. Gina has served in key roles at respected institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She currently serves as Senior Program Manager at UnidosUS, one of the nation’s largest Latina-led nonprofits, where she leads initiatives aimed at changing the narrative of Latinos across education, media, and culture. Her work includes collaborations with prominent organizations like the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of the American Latino, UC Berkeley, and Johns Hopkins University. She is also a published author, contributing chapters to works such as Latina Radiance: Love Letters to the Soul and Pursuing Equity and Success for Marginalized Educational Leaders.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Gina is an accomplished oil painter whose art reflects her compassion and cultural pride. In her spare time, she paints pet portraits to help support her grandfather’s medical needs—a testament to her deep sense of family and purpose. Once ashamed of her accent, she taught herself to speak confidently by studying actors like Jim Carrey and now embraces her heritage with pride. Through her art, scholarship, and leadership, Dr. Gina continues to empower others to reclaim their identities and to celebrate the strength and beauty of being Latina.
