About Ginette

Ginette Bordcoch is a Resident in Family Medicine who began her medical training after completing medical school in December 2013. She and her husband moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she completed two and a half years of basic research at Henry Ford Hospital in the cardiovascular and hypertension department. After relocating to Birmingham, Alabama, she began her residency in September 2024, which includes rotations through adolescent clinics, pediatrics, dermatology, psychiatry, hospitalist work at UAB, emergency medicine, and OB. Ginette is a member of the American Family Medicine Association and the Investigative Dermatology Association, and was formerly a member of the American Heart Association. She participates in the Cahaba Medical program and draws inspiration from her grandfather, a physician and ENT doctor. Her personal values emphasize treating every patient as if they were a family member, and she values listening to patients and performing thorough physical exams. As an international medical graduate, she credits her father with helping her overcome challenges to match into a US residency program.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

You can know more about a patient just by listening to them and doing your best physical exam rather than having to do a bunch of studies without knowing what is going on. Most of the information you need is on what the patient is telling you.

02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being able to prepare well for each patient as the cases change within the same week, and to think not only in the patient you are seeing but also the broader picture.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Treating every patient as if they were a family member is vital to provide the best care.
