Her Story

About Ginger

I've been in the builder field since 2002, and my career path has taken me through multiple industries that have all shaped who I am today. I started out in mortgages for builders, back when everyone could get a mortgage and the guidelines were loose. Then I moved to title and escrow, working with builders to sell the homes they're building and making sure they're entitled to the family, the partner, or the single person purchasing that. I also had the awesome ability to become a licensed embalmer for the state of Oregon in 2012, and I ran the whole body donation program for Oregon Health Science University. It brought to light how we educate all doctors across all fields and how we as humans add to that. After raising two beautiful kids, I decided to give all my skills one last chance and moved to Southern California by myself with no family or friends. I rented a room for 3 months, went into distribution, and quickly Legrand picked me up just 10 months into that distribution. I've been with Legrand for almost 3 years come October. As the National Builder Sales Manager for Legrand, I'm focused on aligning builders, contractors, and distribution partners across 10 Western states. Building trust and aligning those relationships with distribution and builders, and then who installs that - the electrician - is really important. My main area of expertise is building trust, working to create processes, and being strategic with resources to create alignment so that everyone can save time and money at the end. I have about 36 agency gentlemen that have beautiful families working together to provide for their families. I handle builder purchasing, builder meetings, aligning preferred electrical contractors with our distribution, and training on new products. The electrical division is life-saving, and you cannot get an occupancy to sell a home without that. It's important that what's behind the walls is trusted and has longevity in it, and definitely Legrand stands behind all products that you can't see in a home that you absolutely depend on every day.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I come from a large family of kids - his and hers and theirs. I think the success of wanting to contribute in a way that makes everything better for the team, the family, the community is what drives me. The intensity of being a young parent and understanding the influence ability that you have over my sisters and my brothers, over the community and people that you don't know are watching you - that drives me to stay focused, stay humble, stay grateful. I want our teams to win. I want Legrand to win. I don't just want to win. I want us to win. I want every guy in our agency, in my states, to win for all - I want the win for all of us. I think my ability to build lasting relationships has been really eye-opening to me. The trust that people have in me, just showing up and doing what I'm gonna say I'm gonna do, wins most business so quickly. It's mind-blowing that all you have to do is do what you say you're gonna do.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Stay uncomfortable. And be humble, that you're not going to know everything. I think if you're comfortable, I don't think that's a good place to be. I think discomfort is where you learn and grow, and that's where you know you're efficient.
