Gloria F. Creed-Dikeogu, Ph.D
Gloria F. Creed-Dikeogu, Ph.D (She/Her) is an Associate Librarian at California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), where she serves as a Government Documents Librarian and coordinator of Census materials. A tenured faculty member, Gloria also teaches online courses in information literacy and research skills, equipping students with the knowledge and tools to navigate complex information landscapes. Her professional philosophy centers on ensuring equitable student access to library resources, making collections including archives and government documents discoverable and usable, and fostering inclusive and welcoming learning environments. Gloria’s dedication to her work is fueled by genuine passion and creativity, and she integrates her love of writing into her professional and personal pursuits, creating a unique balance of scholarly rigor and imaginative exploration.
Gloria has a distinguished career spanning both academic and public libraries, including 21 years at Ottawa University, where she held leadership positions ranging from Assistant Librarian to Director of Library Services. Her expertise encompasses cataloging, archives management, collection development, instructional design, budget management, and online teaching. She has successfully led digitization initiatives, library renovations, and the creation of Library Commons spaces to enhance student engagement and academic support. Gloria earned her Master of Library Science from Emporia State University, a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis on Educational Technology from Kansas State University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Cedar Crest College. Early studies in speech-language pathology and audiology further contribute to her interdisciplinary approach to education, literacy, and information access.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Gloria is deeply committed to community service and active church involvement. She is a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order and contributes her leadership and expertise to numerous committees and professional organizations. An active member of the American Library Association, she serves on the International Relations Round Table, participating in pre-conference programming and newsletter initiatives. Gloria is also a member of the Society of Children’s Writers and Illustrators, reflecting her lifelong love of writing and storytelling. Her body of work includes poetry, fiction, and creative projects, demonstrating her dedication to literacy, creative expression, and the power of knowledge to transform communities.
