Her Interview

Ten minutes with Golnaz

01What do you attribute your success to?

Family and self motivated. My parents are both Persian... they never sold themselves short... I have this opportunity by chance... I'm not gonna waste my opportunity. I do it not only if I'm not gonna do it for myself, if I'm having a bad day, I'm gonna do it for them.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Dont think you are not qualified. Don't ever think that you are underqualified for a job. Most of the time. People apply, and they don't meet the job description, and they get the job anyway. Sell yourself, do not sell yourself short.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Dont sell yourself short. It's okay to not be sure what you are doing. No one knows what they're doing. Especially as a freshman... It's okay to not have it all figured out. Get yourself out there. Find your passion. Your passion does not need to be known yet. It's your responsibility to find it, and it's in you. Always remember, your passion is in you. And, just about the imposter syndrome... look up at the sky, not your feet.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Anticipating what's gonna happen after graduation. Uncertainty of that. It can be a little challenging for me right now, but again, just keeping my head up. It's gonna get me through it. And I know, at the end of the day, it's gonna work out.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Work ethic appreciate acheivments. Appreciating My achievements... Work ethic, for sure. Being humble. For sure, is the biggest thing I have in life and in general... always being humble and always counting my blessings is, like, the biggest thing for me.
