About Gordana
Gordana Simonds is an administrative and operations professional with experience in higher education and behavioral health practice management. She currently serves as an Executive Assistant at Southern Adventist University, a role she has held since 2021. In this position, she plans events, drafts communications, manages the president's calendar, and prepares strategic planning documents and reports for the Board of Trustees. Previously, she spent 15 years as Practice Administrator at Leawood Counseling Center in mental health. Her background includes executive support, office administration, organizational coordination, and day-to-day practice operations. She attended college but has not completed a bachelor's degree and has earned professional certifications through conferences.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always be willing to learn. Always realize how much more there is to learn.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always have a commitment to excellence. Forge relationships with other women that are willing to give you good advice and good counsel for the journey.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The entire role has been a new opportunity for me to have a front-row seat on how a large organization is governed. Challenges include leading in a leadership position without always having a voice at meetings, so finding ways to lead quietly.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Strong commitment to my moral and ethical foundation. A commitment to my worldview. Listening to others and making life better for them. Having a servant heart and servant leadership.
