Her Story

About Grace

I am a nurse practitioner in cardiology who has been in healthcare for 40 years. I started as an EMT in 1981, graduated nursing school in 1986, and have worked the last 20 years as a nurse practitioner. I retired in 2021 but now volunteer at a free clinic and serve on national boards to develop nursing leaders and advocate for underrepresented populations in healthcare. I started the National Association of Hispanic Nurses chapter in Alabama 10 years ago, which helped educate thousands during COVID and enroll 8,000 in research studies. I hold a doctorate in nursing practice and will begin as president of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses in July.
