Grace Montoya

Grace Montoya is an Assistant Principal at Excelsior Prep Charter School in Zephyrhills, Florida, where she is known for her warm leadership, dedication to student well-being, and unwavering commitment to community. Each morning, she greets students at the front door to ensure they begin their day feeling welcomed, supported, and safe—an act that reflects her belief that the school serves as a second home for many. Working with a student population that includes numerous low-income families, Grace invests deeply in building trust, offering mentorship, and supporting families who may be navigating challenges such as immigration concerns. Her ability to foster strong relationships has become a defining part of her work and her impact.

Grace’s career in education began in Puerto Rico, where she taught 5th grade before relocating to Florida and navigating major transitions in curriculum and certification. Despite having to retake certification exams three times, she pushed forward with resilience and determination. In her current administrative role, she is responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations—including scheduling, building security, and teacher support. Grace is known for stepping in wherever she is needed, whether it’s troubleshooting technology, assisting teachers with student concerns, or mentoring middle school students. She considers her greatest accomplishment the ability to balance authority with approachability, earning the respect of students while remaining someone they trust.

Outside of her professional life, Grace enjoys reading, spending time with family, and relaxing at the beach. She encourages young women entering education to follow their passion and embrace the calling of teaching with compassion and dedication. Recently, she was informed of her selection for the 2025 edition of Influential Women Magazine, a recognition she hopes will inspire other women in the field. Though she remains humble about awards, Grace views her leadership as a way to uplift others and serve as a positive example within her school and community.
