Her Story

About Grace

I'm currently a senior at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, set to graduate on May 9th. I'm very passionate about going the social media route with marketing, and I would love to be a social media manager. I currently am doing that on the side as being a student, so it's been really great. What inspired me to get into this field is that I love that it's always changing - there's always a new trend coming out, there's always something new and creative to explore, and I love the creativity behind it all. I played volleyball for 4 years at MVNU, starting as a kid, then club volleyball in 5th grade, playing all throughout high school for 4 years on varsity, and then committed to MVNU my senior year of high school. This is my third year on student government. I volunteer for the Wesleyan denomination at a church conference every year, which is coming up in the middle of March in Orlando.

Ten minutes with Grace

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

To never be afraid to ask questions. I think I've been told that since I was in high school, or before high school, and my teachers always admired that about me, that I was always willing to ask questions, even if it was in the middle of their lecture or after class.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

To not compare your journey to other women's journey, or just any person's journey. You're on your own path, and that's beautiful in and of itself.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family is most important to me. I think encouragement is a huge one that has always been talked about in my life, starting with my mom. She's been a huge encourager and someone who's always inspired me to speak light and positivity. And so I've taken that with me, especially into college as I played volleyball for 4 years at MVNU, so that really shined through with that, being an athlete.
