Her Story

About Grace

Grace Sands serves as an Account Executive at HeR Strategic Consulting as of September 2026, but she started as an account manager in May 2024. In her new position, she manages client meetings, open enrollment processes, carrier and PEO quoting, proposals, and data review within the benefits and insurance field. She holds her insurance license. She directed her professional development toward career-focused education after opting not to complete a college degree. Grace is bilingual, speaking Hungarian fluently, which supports her work with clients whose employees may speak another language. She has participated in Toastmasters and volunteers each year with Metropolitan Ministries, Feeding Tampa Bay, and Habitat for Humanity. Her path in insurance stems from a desire to help others, and she fell into the insurance world which was shaped by a deeply personal family experience. She saved her husbands life when he had his first seizure and he got diagnosed with Epilepsy, and she knew she had to understand the healthcare system to help since she felt so helpless and she changed that.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Grace

01What do you attribute your success to?

I owe my success to my mom, my mother in law, and my prior managers. I have always surrounded myself with strong female leaders who believed in me as much as I believed in myself, and who showed me what was possible by leading the way. Their confidence in me gave me the courage to keep going when things got hard and to make my own path instead of following someone else’s.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The biggest, best piece of advice I've ever received in my career is "what you're not changing, you're choosing."

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Listen to your gut.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Biggest challenge in my field I am seeing is employers staying comfortable and not making changes due to being fearful of disruption to their employees.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

For both work and personal life I strongly value surrounding myself with people who move in ways I do and stick up for me in rooms I am not in. Loyalty, trust, and having a good attitude is something I exude daily.
