About Grace

Grace Sun founded and currently leads Melodies for Remedies, a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to translating the passion of student musicians for music and the performing arts into meaningful service for the elderly population. She began this work in March 2020 while attending Bishop School in San Diego, California, initially inspired by a school service project at a senior home where she performed as a pianist. Over the subsequent six years, Grace has grown the organization to include more than 500 members across six international chapters while attending college in Boston. The nonprofit emphasizes free concerts and music therapy sessions that foster connection, joy, and well-being for seniors, especially those living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Grace has led the group through pivots such as Zoom concerts during the pandemic and a strategic shift toward engaging music from the 1950s to 1980s along with participatory instruments to better reach individuals with neurodegenerative disorders. She continues to run the organization as a college student and has raised $4,000 for Alzheimer's disease research and awareness through benefit concerts and fundraisers.
