About Greta
Greta Streich brings over 15 years of experience as a radiology tech to her current role as a clinical application specialist, where she trains hospital staff on the use of x-ray equipment in image-guided therapy settings. She transitioned from direct patient care in interventional and vascular radiology to an educational focus, traveling to various hospitals to deliver hands-on instruction. Her drive stems from becoming a mother at a young age, fueling a passion to advance professionally in order to provide for her children. She values honesty, trustworthiness, transparency, efficiency, and strong communication in both her work and personal life, and she encourages others entering the field to explore all options since opportunities in radiology are not always well marketed.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Greta
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, I just feel like I've always been a mother at a young age, so I guess I just really didn't have a choice. It was just something that my passion was to be able to provide for my kids and make sure that they don't really have to go without, so I just kept working and making moves in my profession so that I can continue to provide at different levels of life for them.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The little details do matter, like just continue to build on what your strengths are, but also don't limit yourself, and build those relationships so that you can grow, especially if you don't have hand-given opportunities.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would definitely take your time and seek out all your options. I feel like my profession is not very well marketed or advertised to students that are becoming college level, so I just feel like there are more opportunities to grow in that field than is marketed or displayed in the real world.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges are making yourself marketable to those other opportunities. It's all about who you know, and not your average person could probably just walk into an interview and get it on the spot. It's self-driven growth, whereas nursing has more direct paths. The opportunities as an x-ray tech are not marketed well, so you have to market yourself to find the growth available.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, trustworthy, transparency, efficiency, communications.
