What do you attribute your success to?
I began my career in psychology, running my own tech practice, but paused that chapter to assist my father with his insurance agency, a decision that unexpectedly shaped the next 31 years of my professional journey. Throughout that time, I’ve worn many hats, from agent to support staff to account manager, gaining a deep understanding of both client service and operational excellence. Along the way, I earned the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor and completed degrees in psychology, medical assistance, and communications. My path wasn’t planned, but it’s been purposeful. Each role has helped me grow, refine my expertise, and appreciate the balance between teamwork, client trust, and personal fulfillment that defines lasting success.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is that career journeys may not be linear, and it’s important to remain open to opportunities that arise unexpectedly, as they can lead to meaningful and rewarding experiences. I’ve learned to never lose the personal touch with clients or in the work I perform, and to stay passionate even as time passes. My own path, from assisting my father to learning the ropes of insurance, has shown me how flexibility, dedication, and genuine care create lasting success.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to choose work you truly love, because fulfillment comes from passion as much as skill. Be knowledgeable and confident in your field so you can serve your clients effectively, stay open to learning, and continually grow. Above all, remain passionate and committed your dedication and enthusiasm will set you apart and sustain you throughout your career.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is managing costs and ensuring that all documentation is accurate, particularly to make sure drivers are properly covered. Additionally, there is a shortage of drivers and ongoing changes in regulations and legislation that directly impact them. These challenges also present opportunities to streamline processes, improve compliance, and provide proactive guidance to clients navigating an evolving industry landscape.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are passion, empathy, and meaningful connection. Staying in the insurance industry after a business sale allowed me to maintain the relationships I had built and continue helping clients navigate their needs. This work combines precision with empathy, skills I developed through my background in psychology and communications, and gives me personal satisfaction. Helping clients, building strong relationships, and truly enjoying the work I do are what bring fulfillment and purpose to my career and life.
