Her Story
About Griselda
Griselda Soto is a Realtor, Senior Loan Officer, and Insurance Agent based in Livermore, California, with more than two decades of experience spanning real estate, mortgage lending, and insurance. After immigrating from Lima, Peru in 2001, she pursued her education at Las Positas College to strengthen her English and business skills, eventually earning both a certification and an associate degree in business, management, and marketing. She went on to build a diversified professional practice, ultimately earning five California licenses that allow her to serve clients across real estate, lending, insurance, and solar energy — a rare combination that lets her guide clients through nearly every financial dimension of homeownership under one roof.
Soto's practice is rooted in a referral-based model built over years of consistent, trustworthy service, with many of her current clients representing second-generation relationships that trace back to families she helped decades ago. She has developed a particular focus on supporting first-time home buyers, offering credit repair guidance, financial education, and remodeling consultations that help clients not only purchase homes but sustain and grow their investments long-term. Her career path reflects steady advancement through the industry, having worked as a loan processor and escrow coordinator before specializing in short sales, REO properties, and eventually building her current multi-license practice in Livermore.
Her contributions to first-time home buyers have earned her sustained recognition from Diablo Magazine for more than a decade, along with distinctions such as the 2013 Five Star Award and inclusion among the San Francisco East Bay's Five Star Real Estate Agents. A member of the National Association of REALTORS® and fluent in both English and Spanish, Soto attributes her achievements to persistence, hard work, and a commitment to education — values she works to instill in her clients and in the next generation of professionals entering her field.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Griselda
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to persistence, hard work, trust, and education. When I first arrived here, nobody knew me, so I had to build everything from scratch. Beyond that, I credit resilience, continuous learning, and authenticity, along with a willingness to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. I don't believe success is achieved alone — it is built through meaningful relationships, collaboration, and the support of mentors, colleagues, family, and friends who have encouraged me along the way. I've always stayed true to my values, maintained a strong work ethic, and remained open to new ideas and perspectives, and every experience along the way has helped shape who I am today.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women to invest in financial education and practical skills — to learn credit management, understand banking, and know how the mortgage and insurance systems work, so they're prepared to guide clients from the ground up. I also encourage them to teach others how to use banking and credit tools responsibly, open accounts, obtain secured credit when needed, and prioritize building credit and financial literacy as a path to homeownership. Above all, I tell them to believe in their abilities, trust their instincts, and not wait until they feel completely ready before pursuing new opportunities — growth happens outside your comfort zone, and some of the most rewarding experiences come from taking calculated risks. Stay curious, seek out mentors who challenge and inspire you, and don't let setbacks discourage you; they build resilience, confidence, and wisdom. Prioritize integrity and long-term relationships, be authentic, remain adaptable, and define success by your own values and purpose rather than someone else's expectations.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some of the biggest challenges in my field include the outdated credit system and entrenched credit-report issues, the difficulty of securing home insurance in California, inconsistent or sometimes unfair industry practices, and a significant need for financial literacy in many communities. At the same time, I see real opportunity in embracing innovation, adapting to change, and continually developing new skills, as technology and digital transformation open up new possibilities across every industry. There is also great opportunity in building meaningful professional networks, sharing expertise, mentoring future leaders, and collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds — as organizations increasingly value inclusive leadership, new pathways are opening for women to lead, influence decisions, and drive meaningful change.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are persistence, hard work, trust, ongoing education, fairness, and service to my clients. I also hold integrity, authenticity, empathy, professionalism, collaboration, and empowering others close to how I operate every day. I believe trust is earned through honesty, consistency, and accountability, and those principles guide every decision I make — in my career and in my personal life. I strive to treat people with respect, listen with empathy, and create an environment where others feel valued and supported, and I believe in giving back by mentoring others and helping people recognize their own potential. To me, success is most meaningful when it creates opportunities for others to grow and succeed as well.
