Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to starting from the ground up and gaining hands-on experience across many areas of IT. Learning every layer of the field—from technical support to compliance leadership—helped me understand what works, what doesn’t, and how to improve systems in a meaningful way. My growth has come from learning through experience, adapting continuously, and staying committed even when challenges arise.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is: “Don’t sweat the small things.” This reminder helps me stay grounded during high-pressure situations, focus on the bigger picture, and not get overwhelmed by temporary challenges or noise.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering IT and GRC is to stay confident, stay aware, and never let anyone dim your light. Build strong support systems, seek out mentors who uplift you, and surround yourself with people who encourage your growth. It’s important to lift others as you grow and to remember that your voice and perspective have value in this field.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in my field is the rapid advancement of AI and evolving technology. Rather than fearing change, I see it as an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow. The professionals who continuously evolve and stay curious will be the ones who thrive in this changing landscape.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Communication is the most important value to me. I believe that clear, honest, and consistent communication is the foundation for trust, collaboration, and successful teamwork. Without it, it becomes difficult to build strong relationships or achieve meaningful results in both professional and personal life.
