Her Story

About Gwendolyn

Gwendolyn Dupree serves as a patient advocate in the emergency room of a hospital, where she handles grievances and complaints, explains insurance details such as deductibles, provides support to homeless individuals seeking rehousing or nursing home admission, assists with pastoral care for patients and families, and collaborates with risk management. In addition to her hospital role, Dupree owns Nomadic Notary, a mobile notary service she founded eight years ago to serve clients in underserved and rural communities around Knoxville, Tennessee, who lack transportation to traditional offices. She recently earned certification as a signing agent, enabling her to handle loan documents, mortgage packages, and reverse mortgages. Dupree earned an associate's degree in sociology and maintains certifications as a case manager, sexual assault response victim advocate, and PREA coordinator. Her most notable professional achievement came during her time as a sexual assault coordinator, when she assisted victims who could not afford legal representation by helping them navigate court proceedings. Dupree attributes her dedication to helping others and promoting safety to the example set by her father, who served as chief of police in a small Georgia town with a strong commitment to community protection and unity.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Gwendolyn

01What do you attribute your success to?

I follow in the footsteps of my dad. He was a chief of police in a small town in Georgia. He was so dedicated to the community, to just, he had a commitment to promote safety and unity. He wanted everybody to just be protected. That kind of encouraged me. I want to help people. I want to make sure that people are okay, that they have somebody they can call on.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You have to have a certain amount of dedication and compassion for others. If you have that, it helps to... Just be loyal to your desires. What you want to do, just be diligent. Dedicated.
