About Hala
Hala Jassim Almossawi is a global health strategist, executive, and educator with over 27 years of experience in global health leadership, program implementation, and business development. She began her career as a dentist in Iraq before transitioning to public and global health roles in the US, where she has led major initiatives including a $74 million primary healthcare project in Iraq that reached over 28 million people. She currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Oklahoma State University since 2023 while working as a senior global health advisor and consultant, with expertise in public health, emerging infectious diseases, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. Her background includes a bachelor's degree in dental surgery, a master's in oral medicine, a master's in healthcare administration from Oklahoma State University, and certificates from Harvard, Maryland University, and MIT Sloan on artificial intelligence in healthcare, along with certification as a master trainer. She has also been recognized as one of the top 50 businesswomen leaders in Maryland in July 2022 by Women We Inspire and is dedicated to empowering women, children, and underserved populations through her work and volunteering.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my mother, who taught me to be very dedicated to whatever I do and to always do it right. Quality work is key for everything I believe in, and I teach my kids and mentees the same. Quality is essential in all that I do.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
One of the best pieces of advice I received was about work-life balance from my boss, who told me to take a break and take care of myself because I was working non-stop. Adaptation has also been key, especially as an immigrant starting over in a new country and culture.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Stay positive, work hard, and learn continuously. Take care of your health and be confident. Be supportive of others because when we lift others, we all rise. We have a big role in this society and we can do it.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Equity is very important, especially for women. Being inclusive is key for me. Work ethic, being kind, and being respectful are values I firmly believe in.
