What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the ability to truly listen to people, to context, and to what exists beneath the surface of a conversation or requirement. In federal contracting, it is easy to focus only on compliance and structure, but every proposal is, at its core, a narrative about purpose, capability, and impact. Writing has taught me that clarity comes from understanding, not assumption. When I take time to listen and recognize the story behind the solution, I am able to translate complex strategy into language that resonates. This approach of listening first and writing with intention has shaped how I lead, mentor, and collaborate throughout my career.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I received was to work smart, not simply hard. Productivity is not measured by how much you do, but by how effectively you can prioritize, plan, and communicate. When you understand the purpose behind the work, you can deliver stronger outcomes with greater focus and less burnout.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to trust their voice. Federal contracting can be technical and fast moving, but your clarity, questions, and perspective have value. Take time to understand the work, ask when you need guidance, and do not feel pressured to have all the answers immediately. Writing develops through consistency and presence. Your voice is not something you need to earn. It is something you learn to use.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me most are authenticity, accountability, and intention. In my work, I believe in creating clarity and structure so that teams understand expectations and can be accountable to shared deadlines and outcomes. Strong communication and follow-through allow people to do their best work.
In my personal life, I try to create space to reflect and stay connected to who I am outside of roles and responsibilities. Moving through both work and life with intention helps me show up with steadiness and sincerity, rather than being driven only by pace or pressure.
