Her Story

About Haleigh

Haleigh Meske recently earned her BSN from Marquette University in Milwaukee after completing a year-long NICU training course during her senior year. She gained hands-on experience caring for critically ill patients and aspires to work in a NICU setting, though she remains open to hospital roles that emphasize holistic care including emotional, social, and spiritual aspects for patients. Currently located in Frankfort, Illinois, Meske is in the process of relocating to the Phoenix, Arizona area and has been actively applying for nursing positions following her May graduation. She served as a student representative at school to facilitate communication between staff and students and has volunteered at her church for as long as she can remember. Meske considers advocacy, particularly for vulnerable individuals, and effective leadership through recognizing team strengths and delegating appropriately to be core values in both her professional and personal life. She attributes her ability to navigate months of job rejections to her faith, noting that the experience strengthened her character and reinforced her belief that events unfold according to a greater plan.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Haleigh

01What do you attribute your success to?

My faith in God has been central to getting through the challenges. I had plans after college but faced months of rejections with no responses. This time strengthened areas in my life and made me more grateful. Whatever happens is His plan, not mine, and it's preparing me for what I need to become.

02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Advocacy and leadership are most important. Advocacy means standing up for yourself and those who are vulnerable, especially in nursing. Leadership involves seeing everyone's strengths and weaknesses and delegating roles to make the team stronger overall.
