Haleigh Toombs is an administrative professional currently serving as the Assistant to the Board of County Commissioners at Saint John's County BOCC. In this role, she provides critical support to the County Commissioners, managing schedules, communications, and operations while coordinating with local, state, and federal officials, civic leaders, vendors, and the public. Since beginning this position in October 2025, Haleigh has played an integral role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the County Commission Office and advancing the goals and objectives of the Commissioners.

Prior to her current role, Haleigh worked as an Administrative Assistant in Coastal Management at Saint John's County, where she provided customer service, managed communications, coordinated community outreach, assisted with procurement and grant applications, and maintained countywide records. She also supported emergency recovery efforts and helped manage meetings, site visits, and project documentation, demonstrating her versatility, attention to detail, and dedication to public service.

Haleigh is a proud graduate of Allen D. Nease High School in St. Augustine, Florida, and also attended Gosnell High School, where she actively participated in softball, cheerleading, dance, track and field, and various clubs. Her early engagement in athletics and extracurricular activities helped cultivate leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills that she continues to apply in her professional career. Outside of work, Haleigh enjoys being involved in her community and mentoring others, reflecting her commitment to service, growth, and making a positive impact.

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my initiative and dedication to recognizing and supporting others—starting the Employee Sunshine Network, serving as its secretary, and fostering a culture of appreciation opened the door to my current role.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my mentor, Shayna Keller, whose confidence, integrity, and guidance have inspired me to lead with authenticity and strive to be the best version of myself.

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering this industry to stay grounded, lead with integrity, and always maintain a positive outlook in both their work and personal lives.

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are authenticity, positivity, and resilience—staying true to myself, responding thoughtfully even in challenging situations, and cherishing time with family, my baby daughter, and loved ones.
