Her Interview
Ten minutes with Haley
01What do you attribute your success to?
My family,
I was fortunate enough to have a father who gave me exposure to construction. He built my confidence and empowered me to be capable, cross boundaries, lead by example, and create opportunities for others.
He coached me through difficult times and kept me motivated when others may have given up.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always gotten- Mr. Wiseman.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do not give up
listen to your inner voice
you will be uncomfortable, and that’s okay
not every leader wants you to succeed
PROVE THEM WRONG!
Humanity deserves better career opportunities. We need to be the change that we want to see. It will be uncomfortable, but nothing will change if we do not fight to make it better.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Lack of structure- Solar is a new, booming industry with a lot of players. We lead the way and are paving the path to opportunities within this industry.
visibility- I learned being the one behind the scenes doing the work of 5 to save a company money didn’t get
me a seat at the table. It didn’t increase my earning capabilities. I needed to expand my certifications,
build a network, and become more vocal. I don’t just want a seat at the table, I want a vote. I want to make an impact.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Connection to life- people, nature, animals.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, to sit in an office chair for hours at a time, rushing through meetings, putting out fires, pushing on, all why time passes by us and we miss opportunities to be present for those we love.
This past year I focused on keeping my cup full so I can help share with others. I’m working to find balance in my career and family so I can look back at a life well lived and here I made an impact.
