Her Story

About Halle

Halle Darrow serves as a histotechnologist at a large hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, where she has worked for seven years. In this role, she processes surgical tissue into microscope slides within the anatomic pathology laboratory, enabling pathologists to examine samples and provide diagnoses. Darrow entered the field after earning a biology degree from Baldwin Wallace University in 2017 and completing a park internship that did not lead to further employment. She then pursued an associate's degree in Applied Science and Histotechnology, which qualified her to obtain her HTL certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology. She is currently working toward an MBA from Youngstown State University, expected in February 2027, with the goal of advancing into management. Darrow attributes much of her success to her parents and family, who instilled in her a strong work ethic from a young age. She values honesty, integrity, transparency, and a strong work ethic in both her professional and personal life, and she has described the best career advice she received as the reminder that it is acceptable not to have everything figured out immediately.

Ten minutes with Halle

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would probably attribute a lot of my success actually to my parents and my family. From a young age I have to thank my strong work ethic that I do have, I have to thank them for that because they I saw how much they sacrificed and how hard they work to try to give me a better life.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I received was probably when I was younger when I was like first starting my career out I had several people tell me it's okay to not have it all figured out right away because nobody does. And that was given to me when I found out I wasn't going to be hired back for the park internship.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think probably honesty integrity transparency and also this goes in your personal life as well as your work life but having like a strong work ethic. Not being lazy in anything that you do.
