Her Interview
Ten minutes with Hannah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would say my work ethic. I work really hard. I've done a lot of different jobs in my life. I've balanced two or three jobs at one time. I got married very young, and my husband is my best friend and he's such a motivator for me. Having a goal in mind and something that you want for yourself to feel accomplished and passionate, I've always resonated with you can do anything. And so to me that's all encompassed in hard work, and I attribute everywhere that I've been and every relationship I've had along the way personally and professionally to my work ethic and my parents who instilled that in me and the partner I chose.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Trust your gut. That goes back to the best advice I can give is if you really have a passion for something and see something a certain way, follow that through.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be so hard on yourself. Be a sponge. In the creative field there's so much critique and opinions and voices. It's not all on your shoulders and trust your gut. If you really have a passion for something and see something a certain way, follow that through but don't be so hard on yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Opportunities are leadership responsibility working with founders and brands. Challenges include working at a company with limited resources so not always able to get the reach or goals we want, lack of respect for the creative process where everything becomes urgent and people think designers can finish something in an hour, and the forever changing world with social media where roles expect one person to do copywriting, video editing, photography and more which is impossible without a team.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Quality with paying attention to details and being thorough. Accountability is really important personally and professionally. When you make a mistake own up to it. Honesty and kindness. Being kind is not hard and not enough people do it. We all just need a little kindness in our lives personally and professionally.
