Her Story

About Hannah

Hannah Hallis serves as a Territory Manager at Salix Pharmaceuticals, a division of Bausch Health, where she began her pharmaceutical sales career shortly after graduating from Boise State University in May 2026. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology while working full time in medical device sales for approximately two years to support her education. Recognized for her strong sales acumen, communication skills, and ability to build meaningful relationships, Hallis became one of the first recent college graduates to be selected for a higher-level pharmaceutical sales position that typically requires several years of industry experience.

Hallis’s professional journey is grounded in resilience, determination, and a genuine commitment to helping others. During middle school, she faced a significant health challenge that left her wheelchair-bound due to an autoimmune condition. Her uncle encouraged her to keep swimming and continue moving forward regardless of how difficult the circumstances became. His message of perseverance became a lasting source of motivation and shaped the mindset she brings to her career today. Hallis believes that building authentic personal relationships and genuinely caring about others are essential to achieving meaningful growth, both professionally and personally.

As she continues to establish herself in pharmaceutical sales, Hallis plans to pursue a master’s degree and participate in her company’s women’s leadership program, where she hopes to further develop her leadership capabilities and contribute to the advancement of women in the industry. She encourages young women entering medical and pharmaceutical sales to believe in themselves, communicate with confidence, and allow their enthusiasm and personality to shine, emphasizing that these qualities can be just as influential as credentials on paper. Hallis also recognizes the challenge of maintaining genuine patient and professional connections in an increasingly virtual healthcare environment, while seeing significant opportunities for women in medical sales who bring strong intuition, empathy, communication, and relationship-building skills to their work.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Hannah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the encouragement and resilience instilled in me by my uncle, who supported me during one of the most challenging periods of my life. When I was wheelchair-bound in middle school due to an autoimmune condition, he pushed me in my wheelchair and encouraged me to “keep swimming,” no matter how difficult the journey became. His unwavering belief in me taught me the importance of perseverance, determination, and refusing to let obstacles define my potential. That lesson has remained with me throughout my career and continues to inspire me to overcome challenges, pursue opportunities, and strive for excellence.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is simple: no matter how difficult things become, keep going. Challenges and setbacks are inevitable, but perseverance, resilience, and a commitment to moving forward can turn obstacles into opportunities for growth. I have learned that success is often about staying focused, believing in yourself, and continuing to take the next step even when the path ahead is difficult.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering my industry to believe in themselves and know that you can do it. Your personality, enthusiasm, confidence, and ability to express yourself authentically can be just as important as what is written on a résumé or listed on a degree. Trust in your abilities, communicate with confidence, and never be afraid to let your strengths and personality shine.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is maintaining meaningful connections with patients in an increasingly virtual healthcare environment. While technology has created greater accessibility and convenience, it is equally important to preserve the personal connection and trust that are essential to quality patient care. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities for women in medical sales, where their intuition, communication skills, empathy, and ability to build strong relationships can be valuable strengths in connecting with healthcare professionals and patients.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that matter most to me are genuine connection, compassion, and caring deeply about others. I believe that building meaningful personal relationships and taking the time to understand and support the people around you can make a lasting difference, both personally and professionally. When you lead with empathy, authenticity, and a sincere commitment to others, you create stronger relationships and open the door to growth, fulfillment, and success in every aspect of life.
