Hannah Rumsey is the Assistant Director and Professional Development Coordinator at Ten Mile Academy, where she empowers early childhood educators to grow as confident, reflective leaders. With nearly a decade of experience in the classroom and in leadership, she brings a deeply relational and advocacy-driven approach to education. Currently pursuing her Master of Education in Early Childhood Special Education at Boise State University, Hannah is also a proud participant in the university’s Emerging Leaders Program—an initiative dedicated to innovation and change-making in early learning environments.

Hannah began her career in early childhood education right out of high school, driven by a simple yet powerful goal: to help little humans grow into great humans. Over the years, she has transformed her hands-on classroom experience into a broader leadership role, guiding both students and educators toward excellence. Her philosophy is rooted in persistence, adaptability, and the belief that every step—no matter how quiet or challenging—builds meaningful progress. From managing classroom dynamics to leading team development initiatives, she brings empathy, strategy, and a deep commitment to inclusion to every facet of her work.

Outside the classroom, Hannah is a hands-on learner in every sense. Whether she's diving into a new crafting project, working with birds of prey, or exploring the Idaho outdoors, she approaches life with the same curiosity and enthusiasm she brings to education. Her personal and professional lives are driven by the belief that growth happens when we stay open, stay humble, and continue learning—together.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute much of my success to my deep love for children. That passion has always driven me to lead with empathy, patience, and purpose. It’s helped shape how I connect with people, build strong relationships, and create supportive environments—skills that have been key in getting me to where I am today.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to always keep learning and stay humble. No matter how much experience you have, there’s always something new to learn—whether it’s from a mentor, a colleague, or even a challenge. That mindset has kept me growing personally and professionally throughout my career.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to focus on building real relationships—especially when working with families. Keep it personal, take the time to learn names, and show genuine care. Trust is everything, and when people feel seen and valued, they’re much more likely to trust you. That approach has made all the difference in my career.
