About Hauwa
Hauwa Abubakar specializes in brand partnerships on TikTok shop and has worked in the livestream space for 4 or 5 years, with 2 plus years specifically in TikTok shop. Her background is in luxury fashion on the business side, having studied fashion marketing and management. After graduating, she worked at The RealReal as an account manager and then transitioned into the livestream space, where she handled business development and onboarded clients for a company focused on contemporary and high-end fashion. She has also launched her own fashion brand, Anaka Official, though she is currently taking a break from it. Hauwa attributes her success to always staying curious, wanting to learn new things, knowing she has transferable skills, and being open-minded in a constantly changing social media space. She advises young women entering the industry to figure out which avenue to focus on, such as brands, creators, affiliates, strategy, creative work, or building relationships, while being prepared for lots of changes and using the skills to build their own ventures if desired.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Staying curious and wanting to learn new things while knowing I have transferable skills that I will build upon. Being open-minded is key in a constantly changing social media space.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Figure out which avenue in the space you want to focus on, whether brands, creators, affiliates, strategy or creative work or building relationships. Be prepared for lots of changes since it's a new industry. Take the skills and build your own thing if desired, as this space helps learn marketing and brand awareness through TikTok, Live, etc.
