Ten minutes with Hawa

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, intentional growth, and the willingness to evolve. I’ve learned to see transitions not as setbacks, but as opportunities to realign with purpose. Remaining adaptable, staying grounded in my values, and continuously investing in my personal and professional development have allowed me to build a career that is both meaningful and sustainable.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I was once advised to invest in skills, not just titles. Titles change, but transferable skills create longevity and influence. That perspective helped me make intentional career moves and remain confident through transitions.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this field is to build confidence in your voice and your skills early. Learn the systems, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to take up space. Invest in relationships, remain adaptable, and remember that your perspective is valuable, especially in environments where leadership and representation matter.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The greatest opportunity in the field is innovation, leveraging technology, data, and cross-functional collaboration to improve access, efficiency, and student outcomes. While change can be challenging, it also allows institutions to evolve in ways that better meet the needs of today’s learners.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, empathy, and accountability are central to how I operate. Whether professionally or personally, I value transparency, respect, and the ability to lead with compassion while maintaining high standards.
