Her Interview
Ten minutes with Haydee
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being bold, especially as a woman and minority woman in the finance industry. You have to be bold, not afraid or intimidated, know what you're talking about, and have confidence to move forward. My confidence and boldness have helped me be successful.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is to go with your gut. In finance as a leader, it's easy to take shortcuts, but when something feels off, you have to be bold enough to say something and ask the right questions.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say find a good mentor first. Invest in your education, but then find a good mentor. Find somebody who would be able to answer questions for you, find somebody who you would be able to shadow, somebody who's in the same line of interest, because there's so many different ways you can go within the finance industry.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is finding the right software that fits the needs of the company. We're readjusting our software to make sure it's fitting our needs, making sure that we are connected with what AI capabilities are, and that we're also presenting well to our tenants, offering them resources, and up-to-date with platforms and technologies.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty, truth, and loyalty are most important in my personal and professional life.
