Her Story
About Heather
I've been planning island weddings and writing for about 26 years, and it's been very exciting. I've been blessed to be lucky enough to go at a very young age - this is my third career. I've just been really blessed to have the most dreamlike experiences from the travel company, mainly that part of the company. The other parts are boutique and also writing. I'm just a hard-working single mom. I didn't have a college career. I built 3 different careers, and I built a business that has like 5 different unique things that I do with it, all in one. I did it off of working hard, not listening to other people's opinions, of people saying you can't do it, because I did it. I've developed like 1500 products and got contacted by Shark Tank Casting by like 4 shops I created myself. I've been in customer service over 33 years, working in healthcare, and seeing the saddest things with patients, being very grounded to appreciate how short life is. I always worked like 2 and 3 jobs, even before I became a single mom, and I just learned the beauty of the essence of time at a young age, and I think that also drives me.

Ten minutes with Heather
01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, I believe fully in being in customer service over 33 years, working in healthcare, and seeing the saddest things with patients, being very grounded to appreciate how short life is. And to just go after it. I think that in life, you just have to go after it. It stems from coming from a lot of hardships and being very grounded, and taking that emotion of just so many hardships, frustration, and I put it into something positive. And that's how I built so many things and did so many things. The love for my son, being a single mom, he is my constant ambition and drive. Every day I wake up, I look at him, and I guess most any mom would probably feel similar.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Follow your dreams. Do not listen to anyone - it's just noise. Nothing to me is impossible, and everything is possible, and I feel like I'm kind of proof of that. I'm just a hard-working single mom. I didn't have a college career. I built 3 different careers, and I built a business that has like 5 different unique things that I do with it, all in one. And I just did it off of working hard, not listening to other people's opinions, of people saying you can't do it, because I did it. And you can make it happen if you work really hard and want it bad enough.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would recommend, honestly, find what makes you - the best way to describe it, people have asked me this question, and such a simple question, really, but find what wakes you up in the morning, early, even on a Saturday, and you are so excited about it, you're ready to work. I think that anything creative that you love, even if it's gardening, is like wonderful. Like, anything that makes you feel good. I think any job or career that you pick that makes you feel happy and fulfilled is a win.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
I think the social media is so completely different from when we were younger. That's so - it's learning everything, and although I'm an influencer, I have literally learned just as I go, and it's constantly changing, so I think that's - or ever-changing, I should say. I think that's the biggest challenge, just kind of keeping up with it, keeping your brand out there in the proper way, I guess you could say.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I think most important is the love of your family is number one. It drives me - the love for my son, being a single mom, he is my constant ambition and drive. Every day I wake up, I look at him, and I guess most any mom would probably feel similar.
