Building on these values, she is currently developing Deep Fit, a faith-based devotional and fitness brand that integrates spiritual, mental, and physical wellness. Through this initiative, she aims to encourage individuals to strengthen their faith while pursuing healthier, more balanced lives. Whether serving in uniform, supporting educational communities, or developing her wellness brand, Guck remains committed to helping others grow, leading with purpose, and applying the principles of discipline, resilience, and service to every aspect of her work.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Heather

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my faith and the guidance of God, who led me in that direction at a very young age. Embracing my faith has been one of the best decisions of my life, shaping the person and leader I am today. It has given me the courage and confidence to believe in myself, step into leadership roles, and face challenges with resilience and determination. My faith has also helped me develop strong character, discipline, and a commitment to maintaining my physical fitness and overall health. Ultimately, it continues to guide my decisions, strengthen my leadership, and remind me to approach every opportunity with purpose, gratitude, and a willingness to grow.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received has come through my faith, military experiences, leadership opportunities, and the guidance of those who have mentored me throughout my career. I have learned the importance of remaining open to feedback, learning from experienced leaders, and embracing opportunities that challenge me to grow. My journey has taught me that mentorship can come from many different people and experiences, and that every challenge presents an opportunity to strengthen my character, discipline, and leadership abilities. I believe that staying humble, being willing to learn, and allowing my faith to guide my decisions are essential to continued personal and professional growth.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the military is to believe in your abilities, recognize your potential, and have the confidence to pursue opportunities regardless of your gender. Success comes from caring for your soldiers, doing what is right, practicing selfless service, putting others before yourself, and staying focused on the mission. With the right mindset, dedication, and commitment to serving others, you can accomplish great things. I also encourage women to speak with people who have served, seek out mentors, and gather different perspectives before making a decision. Take the time to understand the opportunities and challenges, ask questions, and learn from others’ experiences. Most importantly, do not let being a woman make you doubt your capabilities. Be willing to take the chance, trust yourself, and step forward with confidence and purpose.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in the military is learning to adapt to constantly changing demands while maintaining resilience, continuing to train, and balancing professional responsibilities with personal well-being. Throughout my 23 years of service and multiple deployments, I have learned the importance of preparation, strong leadership, discipline, and staying grounded in my purpose. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities to apply the lessons I have learned through military service to help others build confidence, develop discipline, and strengthen their emotional and physical well-being. That is one of the reasons I am developing Deep Fit, a faith-based devotional and fitness brand designed to help women grow spiritually, mentally, and physically. I hope to make these resources accessible through opportunities such as an app, podcast, or YouTube channel, providing practical ways for women to strengthen their faith, improve their health, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and purpose.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in my work and personal life are faith, service, integrity, courage, discipline, family, and continuous personal growth. My Christian faith is at the center of my life and guides how I lead, make decisions, and interact with others. Through my military service, I have learned the importance of integrity, accountability, selfless service, and having the courage to do what is right, even when it is difficult. I also believe that true strength goes beyond physical fitness; it includes spiritual grounding, emotional resilience, and understanding your identity and purpose. I am passionate about helping others recognize their potential and become stronger in every aspect of their lives. These values also inspire my work on Deep Fit, where I hope to encourage women to grow in their faith, prioritize their well-being, and approach life with confidence and purpose.
