About Heather
Heather King is a nonprofit founder and lifestyle and fitness model. She founded her nonprofit six years ago and continues to run it, providing support for individuals in early sobriety including sober living placement, financial scholarships, job counseling, and family support. To date she has raised over 1.6 million dollars. About three months ago, she began lifestyle and fitness modeling. Previously, she owned a floral and events business for twelve years before closing it two and a half years ago. She has also been involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for many years due to her son's diagnosis. Her approach to philanthropy emphasizes asking for support without fear and expressing gratitude to donors.

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Don't be afraid to ask. If you don't ask, you can't get a yes. Pain shared is pain halved and happiness shared is happiness doubled. Be transparent and share your story.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Philanthropy is a choice. Always be very grateful and let donors know how much you appreciate it. Never just expect it to come. Appreciate every gift whether a penny or $500,000 grant.
