Before stepping into motivational speaking, Heather gained professional experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and spent five years working as an accountant. She earned her business degree from Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington, where she also honed her public speaking and communication skills. Now operating as a freelance motivational speaker, Heather manages all aspects of her business independently, frequently speaking at women’s conferences and conventions. She specializes in mental health and anxiety, guiding audiences to listen to their inner voice, embrace setbacks as learning opportunities, and rewrite their personal narratives with courage and hope. Through her signature keynote, From Fear to Hope: Rewriting Your Story, Heather encourages individuals to see fear not as a limitation but as a turning point for growth and purpose.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to having the courage to start my own business and put my story out there. It took a lot of bravery to overcome being a naturally quiet, shy person and get up in front of people to talk about my struggles with mental health. What really pushed me forward was meeting random people who, when I told them parts of my story, said I could totally tell my story to people and that I had such an amazing story to tell. Those encounters inspired me to take the leap. The core of what I do is about not letting your fear hold you back, and I had to live that principle myself by being brave enough to establish my motivational speaking business and share my personal experiences publicly.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: your mental health does not define you. It’s part of your journey, not your identity.
Don’t let fear hold you back. Be courageous enough to share your story, step into opportunities, and claim your space. Your voice matters—and the world needs it.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I face in my field is operating as an independent freelancer—managing every aspect of booking, production, and logistics on my own while establishing credibility as a new speaker.
At the same time, this independence is also a major opportunity: it allows me to shape my brand, craft my story, and connect directly with audiences on my own terms, building authentic relationships and long-term impact.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me in both my work and personal life are hope, bravery, and resilience. I strive to live authentically and refuse to be defined by mental-health struggles, using my experiences as a source of strength and growth.
