About Heather
Heather Ulrich is a home improvement professional based in Sebring, Ohio. She earned an associate's degree in nursing in 1991, which led to her LPN credential, and spent ten years on a hospice team followed by time at a prison hospital before pursuing other opportunities. After starting her own painting and cleaning business and working at Improve at Home Remodeling where she advanced to run the department by 2013, she joined IGS Energy for door-to-door sales and later moved into the home improvement sector with Leaf Filter Gutter Protection in 2015. There she began as an event marketing manager, exceeded sales targets in the first year, and progressed to regional positions in which she opened approximately 23 new event marketing departments across the South and West while also serving as a turnaround specialist and corporate trainer. Ulrich emphasizes developing people who show potential and maintaining work-life balance, and she advises women entering the industry to persist despite challenges and to forge their own paths.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them to stick with it. This industry for women is still kind of a boys club. Hard to break in, and you have to be better than everybody else. If this is really what you want to do, stick with it. Find your niche and forge your own way. Also focus on developing people who can come up behind you.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Focusing on people and helping them develop is my passion. If I see potential in someone, I'm gonna try to get them out of their own way. Also, work-life balance is really important. I choose family time and things that are important to me now.
