Helen De La Rosa is an accomplished session and touring drummer, producer, and educator based in Los Angeles, California. With a career spanning over 29 years, she has established herself as a versatile musician known for her technical proficiency, dynamic performances, and creative approach to music production. Helen’s early passion for drumming was inspired by her family, who nurtured her love for rhythm and instilled in her the dedication required to excel in the music industry.
A proud Berklee College of Music alumna, Helen earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance, where she distinguished herself by receiving the prestigious Presidential Scholarship. During her time at Berklee, she honed her skills as both a performer and a producer, mastering the art of rhythm, mixing, and studio production. Her education provided a solid foundation for her multifaceted career, allowing her to navigate both live performance and studio environments with ease and professionalism.
Throughout her career, Helen has toured with renowned artists, including performing alongside Alejandro Fernández, and continues to work as a self-employed drummer, producer, and mixing engineer. In addition to her performance work, she is deeply committed to music education, sharing her knowledge and experience with aspiring musicians. Helen’s dedication to her craft, combined with her extensive experience and passion for mentorship, has made her a respected figure in the music community.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the inspiration I drew from my brother. Watching him play the drums as a child sparked my curiosity and fascination, which instilled in me a passion for learning and pursuing my own goals.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is managing a demanding schedule, which often leaves little time for anything beyond my responsibilities as a producer. At the same time, this environment presents opportunities to develop strong time-management skills and to maximize productivity under pressure."
